With the aim of attracting global talent to undertake their PhD in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) will offer 300 scholarships in its 2024/25 edition.You have the opportunity to submit your applications up until the 1st of December.
The scholarship, which covers three years of study and research, provides an annual grant of HKS 331,200 – approximately US$42,460, or R$207,000 – plus a research fund of HKS 13,800,000 (or R$8,500) which can be used for travel, attending conferences or other activities related to your project.
Participating Universities
Among the eight participating institutions, six are among the top 300 in the world. Four of them (the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the City University of Hong Kong) rank in the top 50 worldwide. Projects are accepted in the areas of science, medicine, engineering and technology, as well as humanities, social sciences and business.

How to Apply for PhD Scholarship in Hong Kong
To apply, each candidate must make an initial application through the online system of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (which can be done through this link). With this, he will get a reference number provided by HKPFS. Once you have it, you will be able to send your application to the desired universities, respecting the deadline and requirements of each one. The reference number allows you to apply to two programs or departments among those eligible for a scholarship.
All institutions have an application deadline of December 1st . Therefore, it is recommended that the candidate apply for the HKPFS as soon as possible. More information about the application processes for each of the universities can be seen here.
