The Université de Montréal (UdeM) is a public institution over 135 years old whose main campus is located in the city of Montreal, province of Québec, Canada . The institution has an international mission when it comes to research. In total, 13 affiliated colleges and schools form UdeM, which has more than 66,500 students.
The university annually offers partial scholarships to international students. According to the university’s page dedicated to Brazilians, applications for the winter quarter must be submitted by September 15th (masters and doctorate) and November 1st (undergraduate) . For fall, the deadline is February 1st. After these dates, students may still be admitted to some programs with longer deadlines.
How scholarships for the University of Montreal work
The subsidy offers exemption from fees normally charged to international students. For undergraduate students , there are two types of scholarships that are divided using academic history as a criterion. The tuition fee without the scholarship is $27,101.70 per year.
- Level A: $13,340 per year
- Level B: $6,357 per year
For master’s students, the scholarship is $10,357 per year and covers 45 credits. Tuition without the scholarship is $29,582 per year. For the doctorate, the scholarship value is $22,241 per year and covers 45 credits. Tuition without the scholarship is $26,582 per year.

How to apply for scholarships in Canada
It is not necessary to make a separate application for scholarships. Foreign students who are admitted to the university will receive a response with the institution’s scholarship proposal.
The requirements for applying to the university, in turn, vary depending on the desired course. As a rule, it is necessary to send a diploma from the highest level of study already acquired and an academic record, as well as a certificate of proficiency in French.
