The Japanese Association of University Women has opened registration for the annual academic exchange scholarship program in Japan. Aimed at women who already have a master’s degree in their field, the initiative accepts applications until March 31st .
Two scholarship holders will be chosen, from any field of knowledge, to undertake an academic exchange in Japan for a period of 4 to 6 months. The period in the Asian country must take place between October 2024 and March 2025, necessarily. Applicants must find a host institute or university in Japan on their own. At the time of registration, they must send an acceptance letter.
What are the benefits of scholarships for researchers
In practice, the financial support offered by JAUW is defined as a “grant”. The amount given to each scholarship holder ranges from 500 thousand to one million yen (Japanese currency, which is approximately R$16,850 to R$33,700 at the current exchange rate). The amount is intended for maintenance expenses in the country and round-trip air tickets.
In return, researchers selected for academic exchange in Japan must make a presentation about their research at JAUW headquarters and deliver a report of between 500 and 700 words at the end of the scholarship period.
