The DAAD, German Academic Exchange Service, is accepting applications for the Winterkurs program , in which students take six weeks of German language and culture classes in Germany. The application period ends on the 15th of August. In this edition, those interested can also apply for the online version of the course, which has the same duration.
In -person Winterkurs can be held at Universität Leipzig, TH Wildau, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg or Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Classes, in turn, take place in the months of January and February 2024.
Scholarships for Winterkurs
Those selected will receive 2,151 euros to cover the costs of accommodation, food and course fees, in addition to a further 1,450 euros for air tickets. Health insurance will be funded by the DAAD . Although the scholarship is sufficient for most expenses, it is recommended that the scholarship holder take an additional 500 to 800 euros for personal expenses and travel expenses.
In addition to improving the language, the aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of German culture and society. In the morning, students have German classes and in the afternoon seminars, lectures and optional cultural outings, such as visits to theaters and museums.
For the online version, those selected will receive a scholarship of 300 euros and cover the costs of the course.
Who can participate
The requirements are the same for online and face-to-face courses. Any student who is linked to a Brazilian university and has good academic performance can apply. “Good academic performance”, in this case, means a grade greater than or equal to 8 and, only for Engineering students, academic performance equal to or greater than 7.5.
Students from undergraduate to doctoral degrees are accepted. The candidate must have attended at least two years of the course before the beginning of the course.
In addition, you must take an online test that verifies your level of German . OnSET, TestDaF, Goethe Zertifikat, DSD, DSH and telc Deutsch tests are accepted. The minimum grade required is B1, which corresponds to intermediate. There is no age limit.
To participate, it is necessary to send the application form, curriculum vitae, letter of motivation in German, school transcript with grade point average and certificate of the proficiency test.
