Dreaming of studying in Ireland? Applications for the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program are open until October 10th. Irish Government Scholarships are an initiative of the country’s Ministry of Education.
The program offers the opportunity to develop a research project in the country, accompanied by a supervisor, in the area of interest of the selected candidate. Candidates from all areas are eligible. The scholarships last one or two years for master’s degrees, and three or four years for doctorates.
What the scholarships include
The maximum value of the scholarship is 31 thousand euros per year. This amount includes 22 thousand euros for maintenance in the country and up to 5,750 euros for the course tuition fees. Those selected can also request an amount of up to 3,250 euros for their research project.
To be eligible, you must have completed an undergraduate degree in any field and demonstrate good academic performance. Applicants must also complete their full-time study programmes and live in Ireland for the duration of the scholarship, i.e. for the entire period of their studies, which can be up to 4 years.
How to apply for Irish government scholarships
Candidates should check the Terms and Conditions before starting your application. They must have already completed their undergraduate degree with good performance, and submit an online application including academic records and diplomas already obtained.
As part of the process, applicants will also be required to submit a research project and nominate a supervisor in Ireland. They will also be required to nominate two people who can write letters of recommendation for them directly to the Irish government. More information, as well as forms that must be completed for the application and by the supervisors, can be found on the official scholarship website.
Applications are made via the Research Council of Ireland website and will run until October 10th.
