The British Council , a public institution created by the United Kingdom government with the aim of promoting English culture and language around the world, is accepting applications for a master’s scholarship program for women who have degrees in the area known as STEM, the acronym in English for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The aim of the British Council scholarships for women in STEM program is to increase the participation of women in STEM careers, an area that has historically had little female representation in the job market and academia.

- Tuition costs
- Living allowance for 12 months, including allocation for accommodation
- Travel expenses
- Visa fees and medical coverage
- IELTS fee refund if required
The opportunities in this edition are for the British universities Aston University and University of Essex .
How British Council scholarships for women in STEM work
Students selected for the scholarship program will receive economic assistance for registration, travel costs, health insurance and maternity allowance, if they have children.
Selection criteria for the scholarships include women who:
- Can study in the United Kingdom during the September/October 2024 to 2025 academic year
- Can demonstrate the need for financial support (through an assessment carried out by the UK university partner)
- Have a university degree that allows them to enter one of the pre-selected postgraduate courses at a UK university (Masters level)
- Can reach the level of English required for postgraduate studies at a UK university
- Be active in the field with professional experience or a proven interest in your field of study
- Have not previously studied at undergraduate or postgraduate level in the UK, nor have they recently lived in the country
- After the scholarship ends, you’ll need to go back to your home country and stay there for at least two years

The British Council offers a free webinar on the scholarships with relevant information, tips on the selection process and also more details about the program. Places are limited. The event will take place on March 16th at 7pm.
